– What advice would you give to a student beginning this course about (a) how to design a function, and (b) how to prepare for this course? The design of a function may be difficult at first but once broken down into multiple pieces everyone realizes that it is easier than it seems. You tend to realize that you start writing more and more overtime and it become more complex, but the main idea is that you order what you want to happen by the way it is placed in the parentheses. I also believe that if I were giving a student advice about designing a function, I would say almost every time there will be something small that is wrong with the code and need to be fixed and that it is not a big deal as long as you know where the problem is and how to fix it. Nothing needs to be done before the course in order to prepare but I believe that just a small amount of studying every week for the weekly quiz as well as attending office hours for the projects will go a long way.
